LRNF Alumni Association Gathering -Entrepreneurship 101: Stories of Strength, Grit, and Success From Our Alumni

September 19th, 2025

On November 19, the La Rose Noire Foundation’s Alumni Association held its second gathering—an afternoon filled with warmth, reconnection, and powerful stories of transformation. This time, we shined a spotlight on the true spirit of entrepreneurship: not just building a business, but rising above challenges with courage, purpose, and heart.

Two of our alumni, Danaya and Joshua, stood as shining examples that success does not begin with perfect circumstances—it begins with the courage to try.

Among the most inspiring stories shared was that of Danaya, whose journey touched everyone present. Visually impaired since birth, she could have let her condition limit her dreams. But Danaya refused. As a mother, sister, and daughter determined to provide for her family, she turned her small home kitchen into the birthplace of her business. She began making decorative and slice cakes for her community—each one crafted with patience, resilience, and the silent strength she carried daily. Her cakes were more than pastries; they were symbols of her determination to rise above every obstacle. With unwavering consistency and the support of those who believed in her, her small venture blossomed. Today, Danaya earns ₱4,000 in sales per day, a milestone that speaks not only of financial success but of a woman who chose faith over fear.

Her journey reminds us that true strength is often quiet—and revealed through perseverance, not sight.

Another story that inspired the alumni was that of Joshua. What started as a simple donut stall offering different variants grew into a thriving business—because Joshua chose to build not just income, but impact. With creativity, experimentation, and dedication, he slowly gained loyal customers. But what made his journey extraordinary was his heart for others. As his business grew, Joshua began helping aspiring entrepreneurs by allowing them to resell his products—giving them a chance to earn and start their own path. Today, his donut business sustains his livelihood and empowers others to create theirs. Joshua proves that success becomes more meaningful when shared.

These stories are more than success narratives—they are proof of the foundation’s mission at work. Danaya and Joshua embody resilience, resourcefulness, and purpose. Their journeys inspire us to believe that greatness grows quietly, often from the simplest beginnings.
